Connect Roomba To Spectrum Router

How To Connect Roomba With Spectrum Router?

Roomba robots are among the few devices you can rely on for home cleaning and vacuuming. With the ability to map areas, dodge obstacles, recharge them on their own, and even clean themselves automatically at regular intervals, these robots are always people’s favorite. However, all this gets accomplished only once you are done with the WiFi setup process. If you have recently purchased a new Roomba and want to complete the setup process using the Spectrum Router, this blog is all you need.

Things You’ll Need

  • Spectrum router network name and password
  • iRobot App downloaded and installed
  • Active internet connection
  • Reliable power source

Connecting Roomba To Spectrum Router

You can start the connection process by downloading the iRobot Home app on your smartphone. The app is available for both Android and iOS. If you already have the app, ensure that you update it to the latest version.
Once the same is ready, you can place your charging station at your preferred location and turn on the power supply. Ensure that the charging station is placed within good signal range of the main router’s signals. You would also want to ensure that there are no obstructions between the router and the charging station as it can hamper connectivity. Once the charging station is fixed, you can wait for the indicator light to appear on the base station.

Add Your Roomba

  • Launch the iRobot Home app and sign up for an iRobot account. If you already have an account, you can sign in to the account.
  • Once signed in, select the Settings icon from the top left corner. Here, select Add a Robot and then choose your Roomba robot model from the list.

You can follow the in-app instructions to complete the Roomba setup process. Once this primary setup process is complete, you can follow the steps to connect Roomba to the Spectrum router network.

Roomba Setup with Spectrum Router

The iRobot Home app will now scan for the available WiFi networks and ask you to select the Spectrum Router’s SSID from the list.
Once selected, you can type in the network password to connect to the network. Based on the Roomba robot model you own, you can connect to either 2.4GHz or the 5GHz network band.

Enable Roomba’s Wireless

Once you have connected your Roomba robot to the Spectrum router network, you can activate Roomba through the app. Also ensure that the robot stays connected to the network. The steps for the same may be slightly different for some models involving manual controls. Still, the process will be seamless as long as your Roomba is connected.
If you face issues with connectivity, you can create Roomba’s own WiFi network temporarily to complete the pairing process. Once this is complete, you can automatically switch to your own WiFi connection.
