What will you need?
Connecting your Roomba to the router is possible when you have a Roomba account. If you don’t, you can create one using the iRobot Home app. The same can be downloaded from Google Play or App Store. Once you have the app installed, you can follow the in-app instructions to complete the Roomba WiFi setup process.
Secondly, you’ll need the details pertaining to the Xfinity router. These include the network settings like the username and password etc. If you do not have these details, you can obtain them by logging in to the router setup wizard. Once you have the same, you can start with the connection process.
Connect Roomba with Xfinity Router
To start with, keep your Roomba’s charging station at the preferred location. Plug it into an electrical outlet and turn on the power supply. Always ensure that the location receives a good amount of your router’s wireless coverage. If so, you can try removing the obstacles and other obstructions between the router and the charging station. Once you have finalized the location, here are some steps you can follow:
- Launch the iRobot Home app on your smartphone.
- Make sure you connect your router to the same wireless network that you will connect your Roomba robot to.
- Now, once the app launches, select the Settings menu from the top left corner.
- Then select the Add a robot option. The app will now show you a list of the robot models to choose from. Select the Roomba model you are setting up from the list.
You can now follow the in-app instructions to complete the rest of the setup process. Once these steps are complete, you can connect Roomba with Xfinity router easily.
Roomba WiFi Setup
The iRobot Home app on your smartphone will begin searching for the wireless networks around it. A list of the same will be shown to you on the screen.
Select the router’s SSID from the list you see on the app screen. Now, type in the network password of the Xfinity router to connect to it.
Based on the model you own, you can connect to the network band of your choice.
Once connected, Roomba will activate its internal wireless network. Alternatively, Roomba also activates the wireless network on its own. You can add Roomba using the app while ensuring that it stays connected to it. Once added, you can see the Roomba in the Devices section.
